FAQs

-Do you accept returns?

Each piece of jewelry is handmade (and a lot of items are made to order) so we do not accept returns. However, we are happy to assist in an exchange or store credit for most items. Items must be exchanged within 7 days of receiving your order in the mail. If you need to exchange an item, please email us at aloha@brianneandco.com to start the exchange process.

The customer is responsible for all shipping charges. Items that are "made to order" cannot be returned or exchanged.

-How will my order be shipped?

We offer USPS first class mail (for orders under $75), USPS priority mail and FedEx 2 day.

All orders over $99 will be shipped with a signature confirmation. Orders over $1,000 will either be shipped by USPS registered mail or FedEx with signature confirmation.

-How much is shipping?

All orders over $99 ship for free within the United States!  Orders under $99 cost between $5-$8 for USPS shipping. If you are outside of the U.S. and you cannot get a shipping quote from our website, please email us at aloha@brianneandco.com for a quote. Any shipping overcharges will be refunded when your order ships.

-How do I care for my jewelry?

We recommend removing your jewelry before showering, swimming or cleaning the house. Chlorinated water and cleaning chemicals can cause damage to the metal or stones/pearls in your jewelry. We also recommend using a polishing cloth to clean your silver and gold jewelry. We do not recommend silver polishing dips. You may also clean your jewelry with warm water, a gentle dish soap (like Dawn) and a soft bristle tooth brush.

-How should I store my jewelry?

We recommend storing your jewelry in a dry, low humidity area (for example, in a sealed zip lock bag). Excessive moisture can cause metal to tarnish faster.

-What kind of metals do you use in your jewelry?

We use sterling silver (.925), 14k gold filled and solid 14k gold. No plated stuff here!

-What is gold filled?

Gold filled is a very thick layer of real 14k gold that is permanently pressure bonded to a brass or copper base. There is no nickel in gold fill, so it is a great option for sensitive skin. With the gold layer being so thick, and the technique used to apply the gold, it holds up great. The gold will not chip or flake off, and it will not turn your skin green. Gold filled is the next best thing behind solid 14k gold.

-Is this plated jewelry?

Nope! We do not use any plated materials in our jewelry. Gold plated is basically a very very thin gold coating over a cheap base metal (a lot of times that base metal can contain nickel). This is why gold plated jewelry will fade to brown and tarnish quickly, it can even turn your skin green and cause irritation. Everything we use is either sterling silver, 14k gold filled or solid 14k gold.

-Do you use gold vermeil?

No, we do not use any gold vermeil materials in our jewelry. Gold vermeil has a sterling silver base with real gold electroplated over it. Depending on the thickness of the plating, gold vermeil can eventually wear off and your piece will turn back to silver. Especially on pieces like rings where they are being exposed to hand washing continuously.

-What kind of pearls do you use in your jewelry?

We use Tahitian Pearls, fresh water Edison pearls and Golden south sea pearls. We also use Tahitian and Edison keshi pearls (the small funky shaped pearls). All of our pearls are real pearls and they are 100% natural in color. We do not use any dyed or color treated pearls in our jewelry.

-Are your shells ethically sourced?

Yes! We ensure that no wildlife is harmed in our jewelry making process. We either find our own shells, or buy our shells from reputable buyers that never collect live shells.

-Can I wear your jewelry in the water?

All of our jewelry holds up great with daily wear. Brianne has pieces that she never takes off. However, we do recommend that you remove your jewelry before going into pools and hot tubs because chlorine is rough on metals and pearls/gemstones.

-Will my jewelry tarnish?

The only metal that will never tarnish is solid gold (this includes 14k gold). However, sterling silver and 14k gold filled do hold up amazing. They will last many years if properly cared for and you can always brighten it up with a polishing cloth if needed.

-Do you accept custom orders?

At this time we are not able to accept custom orders. We are however happy to refer you to someone who may be able to help. (I can give you a list of on island jewelers who may be accepting custom orders)

-My package arrived damaged, what do I do?

Please email ASAP if your jewelry arrives damaged. Although we cannot be responsible for the package during transit, we will do our best to help you. You can email us at aloha@brianneandco.com.

-My package is lost, what can I do?

All orders are shipped via USPS or FedEx with a tracking number. If you spend over $99, your package will be sent with Signature Confirmation (for USPS shipments only) at no additional cost to you. If your order is lost by USPS and does not show as "delivered", we will file a claim with USPS and start the process for a refund. As a small business, we cannot be responsible for lost packages after they have been sent out. If a package shows as "delivered" and you have not received it, we will do our best to find a resolution with USPS, however, we are not liable. With that said, customer service is our number one priority. If your package does not arrive, please contact us ASAP and we'll do whatever we can to help resolve the issue.

-Who is Brianne and what is the story behind the company?

Brianne was raised in Kaua'i, Hawai'i. She is the artist who makes most of the jewelry in the shop. Brianne started making jewelry at the young age of 12 years old. It all started when Brianne found a table full of beads and wire at her aunty's house. Each time her family went to their home for dinner, Brianne would spend hours at the old sewing table playing with the beads and creating earrings. Her aunty saw her interest in jewelry, and took her to her first wire wrapping class at the age of 14. She was absolutely hooked. She started working at a local bead shop at 15 years old and stayed with the company for over 8 years. At age 18, Brianne went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to learn silversmithing from a teacher at the University of New Mexico. At 23, she quit the full-time and part-time job she had to pursue her jewelry career full-time. Brianne started her business by selling to local galleries and by setting up at craft fairs. She eventually had her first store front in the Coconut Marketplace in Wailua in 2018. Brianne rebranded and moved to Old Koloa Town and opened up in her new location on March 6th, 2021.
